An Evening with Mohammed Ali
The Society’s second in the series of ‘An Evening with …’ events – meet Mohammed Ali – most known for ‘AerosolArabic’. Mohammed gives an overview of his own personal journey into the arts, combining his unique style of graffiti art and Islamic calligraphy.

Cabinet Office Islam Awareness Day
Earlier this month, the Civil Service Islamic Society held an Islam Awareness Day at the Cabinet Office, in conjunction with the Cabinet Office Black and Asian Network, featuring Exhibition Islam.

Friends of Islam Forum
The Friends of Islam is a forum aimed at widening direct networks between government and the Muslim community. In April this year they held an event to celebrate the achievements of successful Muslim women across the world, including HH Shaikha Dr Hissah Saad Al Sabah.

Mentoring in the Civil Service *new feature*
In this edition we speak to Ahmed Bashir currently working at the Ministry of Justice about his experiences of being part of a departmental mentoring scheme.

In-Service Fast Stream
The In-service Fast Stream is a development programme aimed at current Civil Servants with the potential to rise to the highest level of management. Deadline for applications is 3 August 2007.

Journey into Islam
In this edition we interview Daniel Foster, from the Department for Work and Pensions who gave us an inspirational account of his journey into Islam; from his early impression of religion to his eventual conversion to Islam.

A Day in the Life of… an Intern at DfES *new feature*

Spend an afternoon with members. In this edition we meet Humma Nazir who is currently on work placement at the Department for Education and Skills as part of her degree. Humma shares her experiences about how working in a key government department has had an impact on her.
